The Vanuatu Government Department of Industry, Trade & Commerce
provides general business advice, guidance and assistance
to both local and foreign investors.

Our assistance includes:

• Examination of business ideas for their practicality, viability and conformity with local laws.
• Guidance to new business investors
• Preparation of business plans for bank finance
• Assistance to entrepreneurs in securing technical training for their employees
• Assistance to manufacturing businesses in the pursuance of overseas markets for products
  made in Vanuatu
• Pursuance and facilitation of contacts between foreign investors and local authorities

MANUFACTURING

The Government of Vanuatu wishes to promote and encourage industries which produce goods for export markets, add value to local resources, raise the level of general and technical skills in Vanuatu, create employment and provide training opportunities for local people. Import substitution industries will be accorded less emphasis than enterprises which address export markets.

In consideration of these aims in the manufacturing sector, the following specific objectives will be pursued in the plan period 1992 / 1996:

• The encouragement of export orientated manufacturing industrie
• The promotion of industries which utilise locally available resources as raw materials.
• The promotion of investments which provide opportunities to Ni-Vanuatu for acquiring
  technical and management training and other trade skill training.
• The creating of appropriate infrastructure facilities for manufacturing industries.
• The streamlining of policies and procedures to facilitate faster processing of investment applications.
